Vol 1 January 1999 edition 1 | |
=================================================================== Thank you for all the positive feedback we've had during our first few "teething trouble filled " months open on line. We've got the kinks ironed out, pulled a few teeth and are now absolutely ready to take on all comers and orders! =================================================================== New CDs available from http://www.collectingdust.com January 1999 include GERRY LEONARD - Spooky Ghost We added Gerry Leonard to our roster of independent artists in December when he was on tour opening and playing with Duncan Sheik. Gerry has worked with artists such as Laurie Anderson, Donna Lewis, Cyndi Lauper and Paula Cole. On his album Spooky Ghost this Irish guitar player weaves guitarscapes with melody and vocals to produce a beautiful mix of lilting soundscapes. http://www.collectingdust.com/gerry.html JOY ASKEW . . . Tender City This month we welcome Joy Askew who was part of the 1998 Lilith fair and is a well known and well respected vocalist and keyboard player. Joy has worked with the likes of Peter Gabriel, Laurie Anderson, Rodney Crowell and Joe Jackson as well as being a true independent artist in her own right. On her first solo album Tender City she is joined by guests Peter Gabriel and Larry Klein. http://www.collectingdust.com/joy.html TONY GERBER with Spacecraft . . . HUMMEL Spacecraft's latest recording "HUMMEL" has just been released from the live show in October of '97 at the Hummel Planetarium. An entire album of new material and their finest live performance to date it was recently reviewed in Billboard magazine who said "This trio of synthesizers and guitar recalls early - '70s Tangerine Dream, when that group was still using live performances as free-form explorations . . . Spacecraft does it better than many contemporary practitioneers, and Tony Gerber's sinuous guitar leads add another dimension to this sound. http://www.collectingdust.com/tony.html =================================================================== NEW YEAR BUNDLE ( January and February only, while stocks last ) . . . featuring Kat Dyson To celebrate the new year we are bundling Kat's CD when you buy Lawson's Death by Dance or Aashid's Mountain Soul. http://www.collectingdust.com/bundle.html KAT DYSON - Colour Kommenatary Guitarist and Vocalist Kat Dyson came to the Donnie and Marie Show via the Magic Hour and the Artist formerly known as Prince. Her EP Colour Kommentary , a mixture of blues and backporch funk, has been a favourite on line seller. http://www.collectingdust.com/kat.html AASHID - MOUNTAIN SOUL A pioneer, performer, film maker, producer, promoter, author, photographer . . . Aashid Himons has traveled a long and windy road from the shelter of the hills of West Virginia to the Tennessee Valley. In the early 80s Aashid broke new ground in Music City with his popular and legendary reggae band, Afrikan Dreamland. His latest solo album returns to his blues and mountain roots. http://www.collectingdust.com/aashid.html LAWSON - Death by Dance Rodney Lawson's solo album is a unique mixture of music with a beat from hiphop to triphop to techno to rap. http://www.collectingdust.com/lawson.html =================================================================== THE MAGICAL MUSIC PROJECT The response to Merlyn's Magical Music was overwhelming so we are setting up ways to make the music available to parents and people who work with disadvantaged (magical) children. We have heard from various groups about the benefit of this kind of music working with cerebal palsy and autistic children. If you know of a magical child or group of magical children who could benefit from receiving a CD of Merlyn's Magical Music please let us know. We are working on volume 2 and hope to have that available by March 1999. http://www.collectingdust.com/janp.html =================================================================== NIGEL PULSFORD We hope to have news soon on the long awaited solo album from Bush guitarist Nigel Pulsford which will be available exclusively from http://www.collectingdust.com in 1999.
