MiVoice Mini Recorders are great for recording Lectures, Business Meetings, Memos, Creative Ideas, Personal Notes, Reminders, Telephone Conversations-- and a lot more! You can save your recordings to your computer, audio recorder, or other external device for future use with included software and accessories...

While all models of the MiVoice Mini Digital Voice Recorders are great, I will concentrate this article on Model 918SU. This model is the prime rib of the Basic Voice Series and comes with the most recording time, accessories, and features. While all of the other models are great, the 918SU is the most versatile for any situation.

918su Digital Recorder

It’s important to realize from the beginning, that these recorders are Digital Voice Recorders. While you can record music decently with them, they are not made to produce quality musical recordings. They are good enough to make work tapes for songwriters and musicians, however, and since they fit in your pocket (have a built on clip for a shirt pocket), they are great for travelling to writing sessions, etc.

The 918SU is 4.3 inches x 0.67 inches x 1 inch in size and can record 18 Hours of LP Time, or 9 Hours of SP Time, in up to 396 Files, in up to 4 Folders. The Voice Wizard+ Software and USB Cable that come with it enable you to save 1 hour of recording time in 1 minute. The initial file format is a very compressed .vwd file (small in size) and proprietary to Voice Wizard, but the program has a built in Wave Converter (Windows common .wav sound file format). You can also convert waves back to vwds for transportation using less space on your computer or recorder. Presently the software is only PC Compatible, though you can save the audio to a MAC or other device with the included audio cable…

Batteries are included (uses 2 AAA batteries) as well as an external lapel microphone, a mono earphone, and a cable and adapter for recording telephone conversations.

Other features include VOX/VOR to automatically switch off if there is no sound input while in Recording Mode and start recording again when there is sound input (good for telephone use), Auto Play Search which can move over to the next message after playing for 5 seconds of each message, Auto Power Save Function, Fast Forward and Reverse, and you are able to delete all messages with one touch or delete selected messages. The display is easy to read and the control buttons are easy to work with.

The 918SU has an MSRP of $169.00 and can be found on the Internet at MiVoice.Biz (www.mivoice.biz) for $149.00 + shipping. Specs, features, comparisons, and prices of all other models in the Basic Voice Series can also be found there.
